Board Members

Preston Brown

President

As a Managing Consultant with Guidehouse, Preston specializes in analytics and project management with a focus on strategic planning, ambulatory network design, master facility planning, and service line development. He brings expertise in guiding clients across the healthcare landscape, helping organizations improve margins and operational efficiencies through tailored business solutions. Preston earned his master’s in Economics from University of Colorado Denver and started his healthcare career in academia where he published health outcome related papers in academic peer reviewed journals.

Madelyn Mohr

Treasurer

Madelyn Mohr is a Manager in the Assurance practice of the EY Denver office. She has 6.5 years of experience serving a combination of for-profit and not-for-profit health provider clients, and also has experience serving clients in the behavioral health, pharmaceutical/biotech, and emergency medical services space. Madelyn’s experience includes auditing technical areas, including healthcare revenue models. She also focuses on using data analytics to drive efficiencies in her audits and has earned a bronze EY badge in Health. Madelyn earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy from the University of Mississippi and a Masters of Financial Accounting of from the University of Colorado Boulder. ​​Madelyn is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Colorado, and is a member of the AICPA and the Colorado Society of CPAs.

Amalea Vega

Secretary, Events Chair

Amalea is a Sr. Consulting Director with Vizient, on the Advisory Purchased Services team. She has over 20 years of experience in the health care industry with expertise in hospital supply chain and inventory management, vendor relations, healthcare sales, customer service and contract management.  She has successful implementation experience of field inventory audit processes for healthcare company assets.  Prior to joining Vizient, Amalea spent nine years designing and implementing the field inventory audit process for a biologics and medical device company. Amalea received a Bachelors degree in Public Relations from Northern Michigan University and holds a Masters degree in Healthcare Administration and Leadership from the University of Denver. She is also a certified tissue banking specialist (CTBS) under the AATB.

Eric Cherney

Sponsorship Co-Chair

Eric is a Spend Management Consultant at Vizient, Inc., working with hospital executives to improve quality and reduce costs within their supply chain management processes. Eric brings over six years of experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining Vizient, Eric was a project manager at Epic Systems Corporation, where he worked with large academic medical centers, post-acute care centers, and community hospitals to build, test, and roll out enterprise systems. Eric also served as the Implementation Lead for Epic’s Cognitive Computing team, whose predictive models have helped eliminate 80% of unexpected deaths outside ICUs. Eric received his MBA from Arizona State University with specialties in Consulting and Information Systems. He also earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Miami (FL), where he studied Finance and Health Sector Management & Policy.

Megan Flanagan

Sponsorship Co-Chair

Megan Flanagan is a Regional Director of Partnerships at Upstream USA, where she helps improve access to contraceptive care by establishing partnerships with healthcare organizations across the U.S. She has experience working across health systems and payers, including Kaiser Permanente-Colorado, where she worked both in the Sales & Account Management, as well as the Workforce Health Consulting team. She has served on the Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce Associate Board as their Programming Committee Co-Chair, where she designs and implements programmatic events throughout the year. Megan holds her Master's in Public Health (MPH) from Utah State University and studied Nutrition, Psychology, and Business at University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where she competed in Division I Cross Country and Track. She is an avid trail/ultra runner, hosted a women's running podcast and online community, and has spoken with SHRM and other regional/national associations about wellbeing at work, healthcare engagement strategies, and cultivating a meaningful career.

Kirk Rasmussen

Sponsorship Co-Chair

Kirk has been in the provider and payer technology and operations healthcare economy for over 20 years. Kirk has held executive positions in consulting and software companies for the last 10 years both in operational roles as well as customer facing delivery roles at Thomson Micromedex, TriZetto, and HealthEdge. Currently Kirk is a Strategy Delivery Principal at Prescryptive Health, where he works with the executive leadership team to operationalize the corporate strategy into measurable results as Prescryptive disrupts the traditional PBM revenue model. Kirk graduated from Oregon State University before going on to train as a fully supported athlete at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, competing for a berth on the 1996 Olympic Team. Traveling the world representing Team USA at international competitions, Kirk was ranked in the top 10 of his discipline internationally and held the number 2 position nationally. After qualifying for the Olympics, an ill-timed injury prevented his attainment of a Team USA slot. After his Olympic aspirations ended, Kirk went on to the University of Colorado to earn his MBA. Kirk has held a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification since 2007.

Laura Newman

Strategy Co-Chair

Laura Newman is an accomplished sales and business development executive who specializes in supporting Commercial, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid payers such as Kaiser Permanente and UnitedHealthcare. She has built a career supporting food as medicine, fitness, and health tech products to drive positive outcomes and support value-based care for Fortune 500 clients and prominent regional insurers across the United States. Her career spans roles with notable companies such as Tivity Health, Cardinal Health and Mom’s Meals and includes four years in health tech, where she supported three innovative startups. Laura received a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Chemistry from Western Michigan University and is a Certified Health Coach and Certified Personal Trainer.

Mark Cranston

Strategy Co-Chair

Mark is the Vice President of Marketing and Communications at SKYGEN, a provider of technology and services for the healthcare industry. In this position, he is responsible for all aspects of marketing for the organization, including brand, sales enablement, public relations, digital marketing, market intelligence, content development and events.  He has nearly 20 years of experience in healthcare technology and services serving providers, health plans and MCOs, with roles in corporate marketing, product marketing and product management.  Prior to joining SKYGEN, Mark spent time at Cognizant, TriZetto and Thomson Healthcare.  He earned his International MBA from the University of Denver, and his bachelor’s degree from Carleton College.

Taylor Kragt

Strategy Co-Chair

Taylor Kragt is a dedicated marketing and sales professional with a proven track record of enhancing the customer experience through servant leadership and community engagement. With over eight years of experience in the healthcare industry, she has excelled in supporting medical device products that alleviate pain, improve patient outcomes, and enhance the quality of life for both patients and healthcare providers. Taylor's career includes impactful roles at health tech companies like Zimmer Biomet and Paragon 28, where she partnered with hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and medical societies throughout the US. Her work reflects a deep commitment to driving innovation and fostering strong relationships within the medical community. Taylor earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. In addition to her professional achievements, she brings expertise in fundraising, marketing initiatives, and event coordination for philanthropic causes, further showcasing her passion for making a positive impact.

Alayna Hernandez

Registration Chair

Alayna is the Director of Data Management at CareBridge Health, leading strategic efforts in data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL). She has over 6 years experience in the healthcare industry with expertise in data, analytics, strategic growth initiatives, and process improvement methodologies. Alayna received a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Lipscomb University.

Bionca Bauer

Marketing Co-Chair

Bionca is an Associate Consultant with Vizient, on the Purchased Services team. She has three years of experience in healthcare industry with expertise in customer service, data analytics, and strategic problem solving. Prior to Vizient, Bionca worked at a small community hospital in a rural area as a patient registration specialist. Bionca received a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Metropolitan State University of Denver and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Kris Webster

Marketing Co-Chair

Kris Webster is the Head of Product Marketing at DAT and is responsible for strategic marketing, go-to-market, content strategy, branding, digital marketing and thought leadership. She has over 20 years of experience in the health care industry with expertise in technology solutions. Her previous companies include marketing leadership roles at Truven Health Analytics, IBM Watson Health, Cognizant, TriZetto, and MGMA. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Colorado State University and an MBA in Business from Regis University.

Dr. Takiyah Wilson

Community Outreach Co-Chair

Dr. Takiyah Wilson is dedicated to advancing health equity and is a driven healthcare professional with the skills and mindset to deliver and manage healthcare services through leadership in administration, research, and the development of innovative public health solutions. Takiyah holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Health Studies and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Texas Women’s University. In addition, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health and Preventative Medicine from the University of Central Oklahoma. Currently, as the Vice President of Health Strategies for the American Heart Association, Dr. Wilson is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of community impact strategies across the market to achieve market health and revenue strategic goals, while simultaneously focusing on cardiovascular disease prevention and eliminating health disparities through an equity-first lens.

Casey Swan

Technology Chair

Casey is the lead of partner success at Helix whose mission is to empower every person to improve their life through DNA. At Helix Casey helps health systems set up and operate large scale genomics programs focused on sequencing 100,000 patients over 4 years.  Prior to his current role, Casey worked at the Innova Group and focused on helping health systems translate vision into market sensitive strategy and developing effective clinical delivery networks. Supporting a wide spectrum of strategic, service delivery, and facility master planning projects Casey focuses on understanding the complexities of healthcare business and the trade-offs providers must evaluate when deciding how to serve their market.  As a Colorado native, Casey earned a bachelor’s of science in Finance from the University of Tulsa and an MBA from Baylor University.

Alaina Vavrick

Administrative Assistant

Alaina holds a degree in Merchandising Management from Michigan State University.  She has held several positions in management and as an executive assistant.  Alaina also has three years of experience in marketing and administration with Loving Health Chiropractic

Linda Bernier

Advisory Committee Chair

Linda is a CMO with Chief Outsiders, a fractional CMO firm helping companies accelerate growth. She is also a strategic advisor for Spoke Health, a healthcare value-based technology company as well as for Sensentia, a healthcare Artificial Intelligence (AI) company. Linda is an accomplished senior leader with 25+ years of experience in healthcare and technology organizations leading marketing, sales, strategy, product management, business development and consulting teams. She most recently was the Chief Marketing Officer for SKYGEN USA and Market Executive for Welltok.

John Baumgarten

CHSM Advisory Committee Member

John is an Information Technology / Telecommunications specialist with over 30 yrs. experience providing leading edge technology solutions. John is a Partner at OTG Consulting, a consortium of some of the industry's most influential and highly networked Telecom Executives leveraging their inside knowledge to assist SMB and Enterprise Businesses. His focus is on creating a vision, identifying opportunities for providing improvements, innovative solutions and processes to drive successful IT/Telecommunications strategies designed to take organizations to the highest levels of efficiency.

Bill Bishop

CHSM Advisory Committee Member

Bill is the Vice President of Consultant and Employer Strategies for HCA Employee Benefit Solutions. He has greater than 30 years’ experience within various aspects of the healthcare industry. He began his career with a health plan and spent his last 8 years with that plan in a senior management role. Bill then joined an international employee benefit consulting practice and was with that firm for almost 19 years. Bill worked with employer clients on a national and international basis developing strategy, plan management and healthcare reform implementation.
