Linda is a CMO with Chief Outsiders, a fractional CMO firm helping companies accelerate growth.  She is also a strategic advisor for Spoke Health, a healthcare value-based technology company as well as for Sensentia, a healthcare Artificial Intelligence (AI) company.   Linda is an accomplished senior leader with 25+ years of experience in healthcare and technology organizations leading marketing, sales, strategy, product management, business development and consulting teams.  She most recently was the Chief Marketing Officer for SKYGEN USA and Market Executive for Welltok.

Treasurer - James Heine

James Heine is a Manager in the Assurance practice of the EY Denver office. He has seven years of experience serving entities in the health and life sciences sectors. He also serves as the US West Digital Deputy for the Healthcare, Governmental and Not-for Profit Sector. In his role as Deputy, James is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Region’s healthcare Digital Advisors in connection with the design and implementation of digital tools, data analytics and a data-first mindset across the healthcare audit practice. James is a member of the EY Black Professionals Network, as well as the Eco-Innovators Network. James earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Accountancy from the University of Tennessee, and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of Colorado. 

 

Secretary - Amalea K. Vega

Amalea is a Senior Consultant with Vizient, on the Purchased Services team. She has over 12 years of experience in the health care industry with expertise in hospital supply chain and inventory management, vendor relations, healthcare sales, customer service and contract management.  She has successful implementation experience of field inventory audit processes for healthcare company assets.  Prior to joining Vizient, Amalea spent nine years designing and implementing the field inventory audit process for a biologics and medical device company. Amalea received a Bachelors degree in Public Relations from Northern Michigan University and holds a Masters degree in Healthcare Administration and Leadership from the University of Denver. She is also a certified tissue banking specialist (CTBS) under the AATB.

As the in-house Business Intelligence Consultant for SCL Health, Preston manages analytics for strategic planning and business development needs across the organization’s healthcare continuum.  Leveraging his prior experience as a Senior Healthcare Consultant for The Innova Group, Preston evaluates new analytical paradigms and engineers innovative predictive models to inform planning and business development for the system and medical group. Preston previously served as Financial Analyst for the State of Colorado, Health Care Policy and Financing where he provided financial analysis used to deliver supplemental payments to hospitals and nursing care providers.  Preston earned his master’s in Economics from University of Colorado Denver and started his healthcare career in academia where he published health outcome related papers in academic peer reviewed journals. 

 

Strategy Co-Chair - Janet Pogar

Janet is the Regional Vice President for Provider Relations for Anthem.  She has a passion for continuing to reduce the cost of health care and has worked on all sides of the delivery system – including hospital, physician and health plan. Janet’s career has included working with several physician organizations in Colorado Springs and Denver, including Physician’s Network (IPA) and their associated (and only physician owned, at the time) HMO in Colorado Springs overseeing the operations of both the IPA’s and HMO.  Since re-joining Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in 1999, Janet has held a statewide Director, and now Regional Vice President, role – overseeing all hospital, physician, ambulatory surgery centers and ancillary negotiations as well as numerous operational functions (credentialing, analytics, payment innovation and payment for value) in the Colorado market.

Dawn is the Vice President of Marketing for Medical Review Institute of America (MRIoA).  In this position, she is responsible for leading the organization’s strategic and tactical Marketing initiatives, as well as establishing the organizational branding strategic vision, go-to-market programs and marketing plans to attain sales and profitable market growth.  Dawn is a proven global, strategic and collaborative marketing and business development executive with deep and broad experience in driving innovative solutions in the market and delivering rapid growth. She has led highly successful marketing and sales engagements for Fortune 500 companies as well as earlier stage companies offering digital SaaS technology solutions, medical devices, professional services, and outsourcing services. Dawn is an execution-focused team player and partner to C-level executives with track record for implementing strategic growth initiatives. She is a strong advocate for leveraging best practices to capture market intelligence, deliver a compelling return on investment, and increase sales and market awareness.

Registration Chair - Alex Stone

Alex works on the payer side of health care as an underwriting risk and operations analyst at Cigna.  She is also adjunct lead faculty at the University of Denver for the Healthcare Leadership program where she teaches the data mining, interpretation and implementation online course.  In her seven years in health care she has held several administrative roles across various clinical settings.  Her health care interests include population health management and community health programming.  Alex earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in public health from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in health care administration from the Medical University of South Carolina.

Marketing Chair - Ian Jefferies

Ian is a Senior Manager at DaVita, focusing on improving patient experience for all dialysis patients. Ian is passionate about understanding the problems facing health care today and helping people get the most value out of their care. Ian has a broad healthcare background including serving as a first-responder and mental health professional in Montana. He has also conducted academic research in the realm of marketing and psychology. Ian earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Montana State University and a master's of marketing degree from the University of Denver.

Technology Chair - Casey Swan

Casey is a Senior Consultant at The Innova Group focused on helping health systems translate vision into market sensitive strategy and developing effective clinical delivery networks. Supporting a wide spectrum of strategic, service delivery, and facility master planning projects Casey focuses on understanding the complexities of healthcare business and the trade-offs providers must evaluate when deciding how to serve their market. Prior to his current role, he was a Director of Performance Technologies at The Advisory Board Company, where he was responsible for developing and presenting claims analytics that influenced hospitals across the nation in their mergers and acquisitions strategies and targeted marketing efforts; subsequently resulting in millions of dollars of increased revenue into their facilities. As a Colorado native, Casey earned a bachelor’s of science in Finance from the University of Tulsa and an MBA from Baylor University.

 

Advisory Committee Chair - Everett Costa

Eddy served in the United States Air Force and has over 10 years of Healthcare consulting experience. He is currently an Account Executive with the Center for Improving Value in Healthcare (CIVHC), where he plays a key role in working with state and national healthcare executives to leverage Colorado's inclusive claims database to drive actionable change to support better health, better care, and lower costs.

 

CHSM Intern - Bionca Bauer

Bionca is a current senior at MSU Denver anticipated to graduate Spring 2022 with a bachelor's in Health Care Administration and a minor in Spanish. She has served many roles in MSU Denver Healthcare Leaders student organization and is interested in motivating and engaging students in professional development. Bionca is also working on her senior thesis in which she discusses food insecurity in Colorado and its impact on Hispanic and Latino groups. She has two years of experience working in the hospital environment and currently works at Platte Valley Medical Center as a Patient Registration Specialist. She is developing skills in healthcare administration with an interest in Human Resources in the context of healthcare.

Bill is the Vice President of Consultant and Employer Strategies for HCA Employee Benefit Solutions. He has greater than 30 years’ experience within various aspects of the healthcare industry. He began his career with a health plan and spent his last 8 years with that plan in a senior management role. Bill then joined an international employee benefit consulting practice and was with that firm for almost 19 years. Bill worked with employer clients on a national and international basis developing strategy, plan management and healthcare reform implementation.
