About Our Speaker

T. R. Reid has become one of the nation's best-known reporters and authors through his coverage of global affairs for The Washington Post, his books  and documentary films, and his commentaries on National Public Radio.Reid's latest book, The Healing of America: A Global Quest for Better, Cheaper, and Fairer Health Care tackles damaging misperceptions about universal health care and dismantles them myth by myth.  This book has been on the New York Times bestseller list for most of the congressional healthcare debate and as one reviewer stated, "should be assigned reading for every member of Congress."

Reid majored in Classics at Princeton University, and served as a naval officer and a teacher.  At the Washington Post, he covered Congress and four presidential campaigns, and served as the paper's bureau chief in Tokyo and in London.  He has reported from three dozen countries on five continents, and written and hosted documentary films for National Geographic TV, for PBS, and for the A&E network.  PBS Frontline made two documentaries following Reid around the world as he reported that book.

Reid is a member of the board of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, the Japan-America Society of Colorado, and the University of Colorado Medical School.  He has taught at Princeton University and the University of Michigan.
